Child marriage prevented in Khowai, Tripura: Officials from the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) and the Child Helpline (CHL) stopped an attempted child marriage at Ratiya village in Kalyanpur under Khowai District after receiving specific information.
The team reached the spot without delay and intervened before the marriage could take place. Officers ensured the child’s safety and spoke directly with family members. They explained the law against child marriage and highlighted its harmful effects on health, education, and future opportunities.
Officials also provided counseling to the child and guardians. They urged the family to support the child’s well-being and continued education.
After the intervention, the team forwarded the case to the Child Welfare Committee (CWC). The committee will review the matter and decide the next steps under child protection laws.
