UP Scholarship 2025-26, Lucknow, February 16: As the UP Scholarship 2025–26 deadline approaches, tension is rising across colleges in Uttar Pradesh. What began as quiet reminders in student WhatsApp groups has now turned into long queues outside college offices.
The online correction window closed on February 13. However, the process is not over. Students who made even a minor correction must now submit a printed copy of their updated application, along with supporting documents, to their respective institutions by February 18.
Officials under the Social Welfare Department have made it clear: without physical submission, the application will not move forward.
Rush Outside College Offices | UP Scholarship 2025-26
By mid-morning in parts of Lucknow and Kanpur, corridors were unusually crowded. Students carried transparent folders filled with income certificates, caste certificates, Aadhaar photocopies, and bank passbooks.
Many believed that correcting errors online was enough. However, institutions require physical verification. College authorities must match edited details with documents before forwarding the application for further scrutiny.
For students who depend on scholarship funds to pay exam fees or hostel rent, this step is crucial.
Why Physical Submission Matters
The UP Scholarship program assists lakhs of students belonging to various categories such as SC, ST, OBC, Minority, and General. Hence, the verification process is multi-layered to avoid any kind of fraud and duplication.
From February 19 to February 27, the National Informatics Centre (NIC) will re-verify the corrected data. During this phase, the online corrections will be matched with the verification reports.
In case of discrepancies, the applications will be marked again. In addition, the final verification and locking of data by the District Scholarship Committee is expected to be completed by March 10. After that, no modifications will be permitted.
The Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) payment is likely to be made on March 18.
Some Students Have Already Received Funds
Meanwhile, students whose applications were verified earlier have already begun receiving payments. Under the DBT system, funds are transferred directly to Aadhaar-linked bank accounts.
However, if Aadhaar is not properly linked through NPCI mapping, transactions may fail. As a result, many students have been visiting banks to confirm their account linkage.
For many families, this scholarship covers tuition fees, books, and hostel expenses. Therefore, even a short delay can cause financial strain.
What Students Should Do Immediately
With only two days remaining, students should:
- Print the corrected application form from the portal
- Attach documents matching the corrected details
- Submit the form to their institution before February 18
- Ask for acknowledgement, if available
If the portal still shows previous errors, students should wait for the re-scrutiny period beginning February 19.
A Critical Moment for Thousands | UP Scholarship 2025-26
Every year, the scholarship process enters a high-pressure phase. While the system ensures accountability, small mistakes can delay payments.
Still, the UP Scholarship remains one of the largest financial support schemes for students in the state. For many first-generation learners, it keeps higher education within reach.
February 18 is not just another date. It is the difference between approval and rejection.
The portal may be digital. The deadline is not.
