Food Festival–2026 Inaugurated at Jolaibari to Boost Rural Livelihoods and Women Empowerment
Food Festival Jolaibari Tripura, The inaugural programme of Food Festival–2026 took place at Shantiniketan Para, Jolaibari, under Jolaibari R.D. Block in South Tripura. The Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM) organised the festival to promote traditional cuisine while strengthening rural livelihoods through Self-Help Groups (SHGs).
From the outset, the event created a lively atmosphere. Local residents, SHG members, and officials gathered in large numbers. As a result, the programme reflected strong community participation and enthusiasm.

The program got even more special with the presence of Sukla Charan Noatia, Hon’ble Minister, Government of Tripura who graced the event as its Chief Guest. While inaugurating the scheme, he praised the contribution of SHG members and appealed them to increase their entrepreneurial activities.
Further, Dipak Datta, Sabhadhipati of South Tripura Zilla Parishad was present in the programme and interacted with the participants. Moreover, the SDM, Santirbazar, BDO of Jolaibari R.D. Block including higher officials was present in the event all along. So the programme was also well-administratively-supported.

Varieties of traditional foods cooked by SHG members were one of the major highlights at Food Festival – 2026. Women from other para both demonstrated and cooked with aplomb. They displayed indigenous items of food which signify Tripura’s vibrant cultural traditions.
Additionally, people had great interest in sampling and purchasing dishes. This was an opportunity for SHG members to speak with customers first hand. The festival therefore acted both as a cultural observance and a means of marketing for rural entrepreneurs.
