Khowai, February 13, 2026: The District Magistrate (DM) of Khowai led a detailed field inspection on Thursday to strengthen sanitation and waste management practices across important locations in the district. The administration organized the visit to assess ground realities and accelerate cleanliness efforts.
Focus on Markets, Parks and Highways | Khowai sanitation inspection
During the inspection, the DM visited Paharmura Market, Banabithi Park, and key highway corridors within Khowai town. He reviewed how sanitation workers collect garbage and transport it to designated disposal sites. He also examined whether municipal teams clear waste on time, especially in crowded areas like markets and public parks.
At Paharmura Market, the DM interacted with shopkeepers and vendors. He urged them to dispose of waste responsibly and avoid littering. Similarly, at Banabithi Park, he inspected cleanliness standards and instructed staff to maintain hygiene for visitors.
Along the highway stretches, the team identified several spots where people had dumped garbage illegally. The DM directed officials to remove such waste immediately and monitor the areas regularly to prevent recurrence.

The DM issued clear instructions to strengthen daily monitoring and ensure systematic garbage collection. He asked municipal authorities to improve waste segregation at source and promote public awareness campaigns. Furthermore, he stressed the need for coordination between departments to achieve better results.
He emphasized that clean surroundings not only protect public health but also enhance the district’s image and environmental sustainability. Therefore, he called for consistent action rather than occasional drives.
