Plastic Waste Management Unit, Under the Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen), the district administration of South Tripura conducted a special field visit to review sanitation initiatives. The team inspected the Plastic Waste Management Unit (PWMU) at Hrishyamukh RD Block.
The District Magistrate & Collector, South Tripura led the visit and closely examined the unit’s functioning. He reviewed waste segregation, processing methods, and daily operational practices. He also stressed the need for regular monitoring to improve efficiency.
Moreover, the visit saw the presence of the Member Secretary, the SDO Hrishyamukh, and the BDO Hrishyamukh. Officials from Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban) and Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen) also joined the inspection.
During the visit, officials explained the current waste management process. They also discussed challenges related to plastic collection and disposal. As a result, the District Magistrate advised officials to strengthen coordination between rural and urban teams.
Furthermore, the administration emphasised community participation. Officials highlighted the role of awareness campaigns in reducing plastic pollution. They encouraged local bodies to involve citizens in waste segregation efforts.
