Inauguration of the 3rd District Level SARAS Fair in South Tripura
The 3rd District Level SARAS Fair of South Tripura was inaugurated with immense enthusiasm in the Vidyapith Playground, Belonia. The SARAS Fair will be opened for visitors from 5th to 8th February 2026.
The inaugural function was conducted in the noble presence of Shri Sukla Charan Noatia, Hon’ble Minister; Shri Dipak Datta, Sabhadipati of Zilla Parishad in South Tripura; and other prominent individuals, officials, and Self Help Groups (SHGs).
Platform for Rural Artisans and SHGs
The SARAS Fair has emerged as a significant initiative to promote products made by SHGs, local artisans, and rural entrepreneurs. Stalls set up at the venue display a wide range of items, including traditional handicrafts, handloom products, processed food items, and locally produced goods. These exhibitions provide direct market access to producers, thereby eliminating middlemen and improving income opportunities.
Moreover, the fair plays a crucial role in strengthening women-led enterprises. Many SHG members are participating as sellers and entrepreneurs, showcasing their skills and business potential. This exposure helps them connect with a broader customer base and gain confidence in managing enterprises independently.
Boost to Rural Entrepreneurship
In addition to product sales, the SARAS Fair encourages rural entrepreneurship and innovation. By bringing producers and consumers together, the event supports livelihood diversification and promotes sustainable income generation. Officials highlighted that such fairs contribute to the long-term goal of economic self-reliance in rural areas.
Furthermore, the fair supports the vision of inclusive growth by ensuring participation from various blocks of South Tripura. This collective approach strengthens community bonds and promotes shared progress.
Celebration of Culture and Community
Beyond its economic significance, the SARAS Fair also celebrates the rich cultural heritage of South Tripura. Cultural programmes, traditional performances, and creative displays add colour and vibrancy to the event. Visitors not only shop for unique products but also experience the cultural diversity of the region.
The fair fosters a strong sense of community spirit by encouraging interaction among artisans, SHG members, officials, and the public. Such engagement enhances awareness about rural development initiatives and the importance of supporting local products.
Way Forward | SARAS Fair South Tripura
Overall, the 3rd District Level SARAS Fair stands as a testament to the district administration’s commitment to promoting rural livelihoods, women empowerment, and grassroots entrepreneurship. By combining economic opportunity with cultural celebration, the fair continues to strengthen the foundation of sustainable and community-driven development in South Tripura.
