South Tripura Proudly Inaugurates National Road Safety & Zero Fatality Month 2026 🚦

South Tripura District recently opened the National Road Safety & Zero Fatality Month 2026 evidently showcasing its strong pledge to saving lives and driving responsible road use. This month-long campaign sends a strong message to all road users – every life counts.

Collective Effort for a Safer South Tripura

The drive initiated at District level by District Administration, Transport Department, Distt Police and community elders. Collectively, they want to increase the awareness of road safety and encourage citizens to adopt safer driving practices.

In addition, the administration has gone to great lengths to stress that road safety is a joint responsibility of the government and all citizens. Rather, it needs cooperation by drivers and passengers in tandem with riders, pedestrians, or friends. So community engagement is key for reaching zero fatalities.

Focus on Responsible Driving and Rule Compliance

Large number of road accidents happen mostly due to negligence, overspeeding and not following traffic rules. Thus, the purpose of this campaign is to raise awareness on:

  • Following traffic rules and signals
  • Putting on helmets and seat belts always
  • Drinking and driving, and using a phone while behind the wheel.
  • Adhering to the rules of the road by driving at reasonable speeds and following at a safe distance

Moreover, public education campaigns, marches and law noqaforcementent drives will be conducted throughout the month to reinforce these messages.

Zero Accidents, Zero Loss of Lives — The Goal

The goal of Zero Fatality Month, however, is more than just awareness. It seeks to create road discipline, that would be sustained over the long run, and bring about mutual respect between all who use our roads. In turn, safer roadways can be secured for all travellers, especially children, seniors, cyclists and road users who rely on the streets as part of their lives.

In addition, the campaign also invites people to make their own personal pledge to get behind the wheel safely and inspire others to do the same. Small measures, taken every day, can save lives beyond estimate.
