TRESP livelihood success under TRESP at Karbook R.D. Block
The Transforming Rural Economy through Sustainable Projects (TRESP) initiative continues to strengthen rural livelihoods in Tripura. In particular, a recent achievement from Karbook R.D. Block highlights the growing impact of fisheries-based income activities at the grassroots level.
A Successful Fish Sale at Jenta Twisa VC | TRESP livelihood success
On the day, Ms. Marsanti Didi, a member of the Chandramukhi–1 Fishery Producer Group, successfully sold 32 kg of fresh fish at Jenta Twisa VC. As a result, the sale generated stable income for the group. Moreover, it demonstrated the benefits of organized fisheries activities under TRESP.
At the same time, the timely harvest ensured good market demand. Therefore, the initiative helped maximize returns for the producer group.

Strengthening Fisheries-Based Livelihoods
Fisheries play a vital role in the rural economy of Gomati district. Under TRESP, producer groups receive technical guidance and regular training. Consequently, members now manage ponds more efficiently.
In addition, improved feeding practices have reduced losses. As a result, productivity has increased steadily across several groups.
Improved Practices and Market Access
TRESP focuses on both production and marketing support. For this reason, the project promotes group-based selling systems. By doing so, it helps members secure fair prices.
Likewise, reduced dependence on middlemen has improved profit margins. Notably, Ms. Marsanti Didi’s successful sale reflects the strength of collective market access.
Women’s Economic Empowerment
Women play a central role in TRESP-supported activities. Importantly, they participate actively in planning, production, and sales. As a consequence, their financial independence has increased.
Furthermore, higher income has improved household nutrition and education. Over time, this involvement has strengthened women’s leadership at the community level.

Grassroots Impact of TRESP
Field-level successes clearly demonstrate the effectiveness of TRESP. In fact, the project follows a structured and practical approach. Accordingly, it combines training, input support, and regular follow-up.
Meanwhile, officials promote environment-friendly practices. Thus, the project ensures long-term sustainability.
Towards Self-Reliant Rural Communities | TRESP livelihood success
The progress at Karbook R.D. Block reflects the broader goals of TRESP. Overall, the initiative aims to build self-reliant communities through sustainable livelihoods.
Similarly, improved income opportunities continue to benefit SHG and Producer Group members. Ultimately, these efforts support inclusive rural growth across Gomati district.
A Model for Sustainable Livelihood Development | TRESP livelihood success
The success of Ms. Marsanti Didi and the Chandramukhi–1 Fishery Producer Group serves as a strong example. In conclusion, focused livelihood interventions can transform lives at the grassroots level.
Therefore, TRESP remains committed to empowering rural communities through stable income generation and sustainable development.
