Khowai Zilla Parishad Hosts 7-A-Side Cricket Tournament 2026, Sends Strong Social Message
Khowai, Tripura | February 2026: The Khowai Zilla Parishad successfully conducted a 7-A-Side Knockout Cricket Tournament from January 29 to February 21, 2026. The tournament successfully combined sports with highly effective social awareness messages. Consequently, the event received massive turnout from the district.
Notably, the tournament supported the “Drugs-Free, HIV-Free & TB-Free Tripura” vision. Additionally, it supported the “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao, Beti Khelao” campaign. Consequently, the tournament became more than a cricket match.

This year’s tournament saw record-breaking enthusiasm. A total of 48 men’s teams and 8 women’s teams participated. Notably, this was the first time women’s teams participated at this level in the Khowai district. Consequently, the event marked a historic moment in the district’s sports.
A total of 55 thrilling matches were held during the tournament. Meanwhile, the locals turned up in huge numbers to support their teams. As the matches progressed, the level of enthusiasm continued to escalate.
The event was conceptualized by Rajat Pant. Additionally, his office team also took part in the tournament. This further boosted the event’s youth participation and community spirit.

Furthermore, the mascot “Nirmal Moti,” inspired by the scenic Baramura Hills, delivered a message of cleanliness and environmental responsibility. Specifically, the mascot promoted greenery and plastic-free living. Thus, the tournament supported both health and environmental awareness.
