Karbook Road Work Sparks Protest, Auto Syndicate Secretary Questions PWD

Karbook road construction controversy, A controversy has emerged in Karbook, Tripura, over the quality of an ongoing road construction project. Karbook Auto Syndicate Secretary Surjya Mani Jamatia recently raised concerns about the work carried out by the Public Works Department (PWD).

According to Jamatia, he visited the road along with several local residents. The group inspected the road stretch from Bhagaban Tila to Karbook Hospital. During the visit, they carefully checked different sections of the newly constructed road.

However, the team noticed several problems. In many places, the road layer looked thinner than the required standard. As a result, locals started questioning the quality of the construction work.

Residents Question Construction Standards

Jamatia asserted that the poor quality of the road had raised many issues among the residents. According to him, “public development schemes need to be done properly.”

Furthermore, he claimed that the group attempted to raise issues over the road construction work. Nevertheless, officials from the PWD called the police. Shortly thereafter, the police officers asked the group to leave the area.

As a result, the situation had generated frustration among the residents of the area. The residents feel that the government should allow the public to monitor the development schemes.

Allegations of Irregularities | Karbook road construction controversy

At the same time, Surjya Mani Jamatia also expressed suspicion about possible irregularities in the project. According to him, corruption or a “percentage system” might be involved in the construction process.

He further said that the people of Karbook have suffered from poor road conditions for many years. Therefore, residents now expect durable and high-quality roads instead of temporary repairs.
