TWJA Holds Four-Hour Sit-In on Six-Point Charter of Demands in Agartala
Agartala, October 1, 2026: The Tripura Working Journalists Association (TWJA) organised a four-hour sit-in near Rabindra Shata Varshiki Bhawan in Agartala on Thursday.
The journalists raised a six-point charter of demands. The demands focus on the safety, welfare and working conditions of media professionals.
TWJA members called for stronger safety measures for journalists. They also demanded action against attacks, threats and harassment faced by media workers.
The association also highlighted better service and wage conditions. It sought improved health support and insurance coverage for journalists.
Another key demand concerns a transparent government advertising policy. TWJA said fair access to official advertisements can help strengthen the media sector.
The association also stressed the important role of journalists in a democratic society.
The four-hour programme drew attention to the professional and social challenges faced by journalists in Tripura. The organisers urged the authorities to consider their six-point charter.
