Karbook, Tripura: Continuous heavy rainfall over the past few days has severely affected normal life in several areas under North Ekchhari ADC Village and Poangbari ADC Village in Karbook subdivision of Gomati district.

On Saturday, MDC Sujoy Uchoi visited Nildhan Para, Bhanu Para, Poang Mog Para and Chandra Kiran Para to assess the situation and interact with affected residents.

Houses at Risk Due to Gomati River Erosion

During the inspection, Sujoy Uchoi visited the homes of Satyamala Chakma and Ran Bikash Chakma at Nildhan Para under North Ekchhari ADC Village.

Their houses are reportedly in a vulnerable condition due to ongoing erosion along the banks of the Gomati River. The MDC inspected the affected area and listened to the concerns of the families.

He also visited the residence of Karuna Chakma, who is unwell, and enquired about her health condition.

Fallen Tree Creates Road Connectivity Problems

At Poang Mog Para, a large tree had fallen across the road following the heavy rain, causing difficulties for local commuters. The MDC inspected the spot and reviewed the problems faced by residents.

He also visited the Gomati riverbank near the Bhanu Para Buddhist temple, where continued river erosion has raised concerns among local people.

Lack of Bridge Affects Students and Residents

Residents of Chandra Kiran Para highlighted a long-standing demand for a bridge over a local stream. The absence of a bridge has created serious connectivity problems for students, local residents and traders.

Sujoy Uchoi listened to the grievances of the villagers and discussed the situation with them.
