Matabari road project, Residents of North Kalaban Gram Panchayat under the Matabari Assembly constituency finally have some good news. On Thursday, work began on a long-awaited road project in the area.
The project will turn the important road connecting Simsima, Kalaban and Ashram Tilla into a paved road. For years, local residents have demanded better road connectivity. However, the poor condition of the road continued to make daily travel difficult.
As a result, residents repeatedly raised the issue with local representatives and government authorities. Finally, their long-standing demand moved closer to reality.
MLA Inspected the Road | Matabari road project
A few months ago, Matabari MLA Abhishek Debroy visited the road along with Public Works Department (PWD) officials. The inspection followed repeated requests from residents.
Following the inspection, the state government approved the road project. Moreover, the government allocated around ₹79.15 lakh for the work.
The project has an estimated cost of ₹79,15,675. Therefore, once the construction finishes, residents of North Kalaban and nearby areas can expect better and safer connectivity.
Traditional Bhumi Pujan Held
Before construction began, organisers held a traditional Bhumi Pujan ceremony. The ceremony followed local religious customs and marked the beginning of the project.
After the ceremony, the organisers held a formal programme at the North Kalaban Gram Panchayat ground. During the programme, MLA Abhishek Debroy officially launched the road work.
Meanwhile, Matabari Panchayat Samiti Chairperson Shilpi Das, PWD official Pranab Das, local representatives and several prominent residents attended the event.
Better Connectivity Expected | Matabari road project
Speaking at the programme, MLA Abhishek Debroy highlighted the importance of good roads in rural areas. According to him, the government continues to improve rural connectivity and basic infrastructure.
Furthermore, he said the new road would make everyday travel easier for people in North Kalaban and neighbouring villages.
Better roads can bring several benefits to rural communities. For example, students can travel more easily to schools and colleges. Similarly, patients can reach hospitals and healthcare centres with fewer difficulties.
In addition, improved roads can help local traders transport goods more efficiently. As a result, better connectivity may also support small businesses and strengthen the local economy.
Residents Welcome the Development
Meanwhile, the start of the project has created a sense of relief and happiness among local residents. After waiting for years, people can now see their demand turning into a real development project.
For this reason, residents are hopeful about the future. They want the authorities to complete the work on time and maintain good construction quality.
Finally, once the road becomes fully operational, people in North Kalaban and surrounding areas are expected to enjoy easier daily travel. More importantly, the improved connection could provide better access to education, healthcare, markets and other essential services.
For local residents, therefore, the project is more than just a new road. It is a step towards better connectivity, easier movement and greater opportunities for the community.
