Abhijit Bhattacharjee Receives Lifetime Achievement Award for 39 Years in Education
Agartala, September 5, 2026: Educationist and academician Abhijit Bhattacharjee has received a Lifetime Achievement Award for his 39-year contribution to education.
He received the honour at a ceremony in Central Kolkata on Friday. The event formed part of the Banga–Tripura Shiksha Gourav Samman 2026 programme.
Award Recognises 39 Years of Service
Bhattacharjee has worked in the education sector for nearly four decades. His career includes a strong focus on academic development and quality education.
The award recognises his long service and contribution to the education sector. The Kolkata ceremony marked another important moment in his career.
Kolkata Ceremony
Several organisations jointly organised the felicitation programme. They included Banga–Tripura Moitri Mancha, Desh Bhabna and Vision of Bengal.
Swami Vivekananda Vidyamandir also supported the event. Organisers held the ceremony at the Nalini Guha Auditorium on Central Avenue in Kolkata.
The programme brought together people from education, medicine, literature and public life. Professor Biswanath Chakraborty also attended the event. Former national footballer Amit Bhadra and journalist Debasish Datta were among the other guests.
Several Honours During His Career
Bhattacharjee has earned several awards during his professional career.
The Government of Tripura gave him the Best Academician Award in 2022. The state presented the award during celebrations marking 50 years of Tripura’s statehood.
He also received the Man of the Year Award from The Telegraph in 2007. Other honours followed in the years that came after.
These included the Sweta Bhattacharjee Memorial Award in 2009. He also received the Tripura Times Man of the Year Award in 2009.
Eastern Panorama later honoured him with its Teacher of the Year Award. He also received the Amrakunja Samman in 2016.
A New Milestone
The latest award adds another achievement to Bhattacharjee’s long career. It also highlights the contribution of educators who work for academic development over many years.
The Banga–Tripura Shiksha Gourav Samman 2026 also brings attention to the close cultural and intellectual ties between Bengal and Tripura.
For Tripura’s education community, the honour marks a proud moment. Bhattacharjee’s 39 years of service have now earned recognition on a wider platform.
