Santirbazar, September 8, 2026: A training workshop for Booth Level Officers (BLOs) has started at the Sub-Divisional Magistrate’s office in Santirbazar. The programme aims to prepare election officials for the upcoming revision of Tripura’s electoral rolls.
The administration organised the workshop under the Election Commission’s guidelines. Officials are receiving practical guidance on voter verification, record correction and other responsibilities linked to the electoral-roll revision.
District Magistrate Highlights BLOs’ Role
South Tripura District Magistrate Mohammad Sajjad, IAS, inaugurated the workshop. He stressed the importance of maintaining accuracy and transparency throughout the electoral-roll revision process.
Sajjad said BLOs have a direct connection with voters at the grassroots level. Therefore, their work plays an important role in maintaining reliable electoral rolls.
Santirbazar SDM Dipika Gautam, IAS, DCM Saif Uddin and DCM Kakali Saha also attended the programme. Other officials joined the workshop as well.
Training Focuses on Voter Records
The training will cover the practical aspects of the revision exercise. BLOs will learn how to verify voter information and correct errors in electoral records.
They will also receive guidance on ensuring that eligible citizens remain properly enrolled. Officials will monitor the work at different levels to maintain compliance with Election Commission guidelines.
Important Step Ahead of Electoral Roll Revision
Tripura has begun preparations for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. The process includes training officials before the house-to-house verification phase begins.
According to election authorities, BLOs will conduct household visits from September 15 to October 14. They will distribute forms, assist voters and collect the required information during this phase.
The administration plans to publish the draft electoral roll on October 21. Voters will then get an opportunity to submit claims and objections. The final electoral roll is scheduled for publication on December 23, 2026.
The Santirbazar workshop is therefore an important part of the preparations. With proper training and coordination, officials hope to make the revision process accurate, transparent and accessible to voters.
The exercise will also help ensure that eligible citizens remain part of the electoral process while officials identify and address errors in voter records.
