Gomati Freshmart Opens at Jamjuri Market, Bringing Affordable Vegetables to Villagers
Jamjuri, Gomati: Residents of Jamjuri and nearby areas now have a new place to buy fresh vegetables. Gomati Freshmart opened at Jamjuri Market under the Kakaraban Mahila Cluster Bahumukhi Samabay Samiti Limited.
Gomati District Magistrate Rinku Lather inaugurated the freshmart. She cut the ribbon and lit the ceremonial lamp during the opening programme.
Several officials and local representatives attended the event. They included Kakaraban RD Block BDO Anind Dutta Majumder and Kakaraban Panchayat Samiti Chairperson Supriya Saha.
Kakaraban CLF President Tuntul Deb Bardhan also joined the programme. CLF Secretary Jhuma Das Bhowmik attended the event as well.
The Pradhan, Deputy Pradhan and ward members of Jamjuri Gram Panchayat also took part in the programme.
Fresh Vegetables at Affordable Prices
The new Gomati Freshmart aims to make vegetable shopping easier for local villagers.
Customers can find different types of vegetables under one roof. The market will also offer vegetables at comparatively lower prices.
Speaking to the media, District Magistrate Rinku Lather highlighted the benefit for local residents. She said the freshmart would help people buy vegetables at affordable rates.
The new outlet could also give rural consumers a more convenient shopping option.
More Than ₹5 Lakh Spent on the Project
The authorities spent more than ₹5 lakh to build the freshmart.
The project also supports women-led livelihood activities in the area. The initiative gives local women an opportunity to take part in business and improve their income.
District Magistrate Meets CLF Members
After the inauguration, Rinku Lather visited Jamjuri Gram Panchayat.
She also inspected the office of the Kakaraban Mahila Cluster Bahumukhi Samabay Samiti Limited.
Later, the District Magistrate held a meeting with CLF members at the conference hall.
The meeting focused on several important issues. These included income growth, cooperative activities and the future management of Gomati Freshmart.
Rinku Lather shared practical suggestions with the women members. She encouraged them to strengthen their activities and improve the market’s performance.
Administration Promises Support
The District Magistrate also assured the women of continued support from the district administration.
She said the administration would stand beside them as they work toward greater financial independence.
The initiative could create new opportunities for rural women. At the same time, it may help local residents access fresh vegetables at reasonable prices.
The opening programme received a positive response from the local community. Residents, Panchayat representatives and women’s group members participated with enthusiasm.
With Gomati Freshmart now open, Jamjuri Market has gained a new facility that combines affordable shopping with women-led livelihood development.
