Udaipur, September 17, 2026: Udaipur Municipal Council launched the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva and Sankalp Abhiyan’ on Thursday as part of various public welfare activities around Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday.
The campaign aims to promote cleanliness, protect the environment and encourage residents to keep their surroundings clean.
Debal Deb Roy Inaugurates the Campaign
Gomati Zilla Parishad Sabhadhipati Debal Deb Roy opened the programme at the Udaipur Municipal Council premises. He lit the ceremonial lamp to mark the beginning of the campaign.
Udaipur Municipal Council Chairman Sheetal Chandra Majumder, Vice-Chairman Pradip Debnath, Udaipur Sub-Divisional Magistrate Tridib Sarkar, councillors, municipal employees, public representatives and local residents attended the programme.
After the inauguration, the participants joined the cleanliness drive at different locations across Udaipur.
Special Cleaning Drive Around Jagannath Dighi
The municipal team and other participants cleaned the Udaipur Municipal Council premises and areas near the historic Jagannath Dighi.
The team also visited several important locations in the town. Participants collected plastic waste and other garbage from roads and nearby areas.
During the drive, the organisers urged residents to avoid littering and maintain cleanliness in public places.
They also highlighted the need to reduce plastic use and protect the local environment.
Citizens’ Role in Keeping Udaipur Clean
Speakers at the programme said municipal workers cannot keep the entire town clean without support from local residents.
They urged people to take responsibility for their homes, neighbourhoods and nearby public spaces. According to the speakers, regular participation from citizens can help Udaipur maintain a cleaner environment.
The campaign also encouraged residents to develop simple habits such as using waste bins, avoiding single-use plastic and disposing of garbage properly.
Debal Deb Roy Appeals for Regular Cleanliness
Speaking at the programme, Debal Deb Roy said people across the country were taking part in different service-related activities around the Prime Minister’s birthday.
He said the Udaipur campaign also carries a message about personal responsibility.
“Cleanliness should not remain limited to a one-day programme. It should become a part of our daily life,” he said.
He further appealed to residents to keep their surroundings clean and contribute to a healthier environment.
The Udaipur Municipal Council’s initiative ended with a message encouraging citizens to continue their efforts beyond the campaign and work together to keep the city clean.
