Road Repair Work on Khowai-Agartala Highway Not Yet Complete Before Durga Puja
Agartala, October 11, 2026: Road repair work is yet to be completed on some sections of Khowai-Agartala and Teliamura-Agartala highways. Thus, travelers are apprehensive about using the roads during the forthcoming Durga Puja festival.
It was previously reported that the deadline for the road repairs was October 10. However, there are some sections of the road which require work to be done. Thus, the commuters hope for immediate action before the festive season.
Travelers Encounter Road Issues
The mentioned highways link some subdivisions to Agartala. Thus, people rely on them for commuting, business transactions, and public transportation services.
Bad road quality may hinder travelers’ movements and cause delays. Furthermore, the increased traffic due to the festivity period may pose additional issues. Hence, the commuters hope for completion of the road repairs soon.
Repair Works are Urgently Required by CITU
At the same time, Jirania Sub-Divisional Committee of Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) has expressed its apprehension about the condition of the road.
The deputation of the Jirania Sub-Divisional Committee was given to the West Tripura District Magistrate on October 10. It was demanding urgent repair works for the damaged parts of the road.
As far as the damaged part is concerned, the report has specified the stretch from Sadhupur in Champaknagar to Ranirgaon.
Request for Flyover and Drainage System
Apart from repairing the road, CITU demanded flyover construction between Khowai and Champaknagar. The construction of this flyover would help to make the traffic easy for commuting.
Besides that, the committee also demanded drainage system to be constructed on either side of the highway.
Increased Traffic in Festivals Causes Worry
Generally, Durga Puja causes increased traffic in Agartala. People from neighboring towns and subdivisions visit marketplaces and pandals during this time.
But due to incomplete repair work, there could be traffic during this festive season. Hence, the completion of the project in time becomes important.
Now, the people await information regarding when the remaining repair works will be completed. Early action would decrease their suffering.
For now, the concerned departments have to complete the repair works. The last thing that the commuters want is to see any improvement in the road condition by the time the festival comes around.
