South Tripura Secures First Position in Bal Vivah Mukt Bharat Campaign

South Tripura district has secured first position for the effective implementation of the Bal Vivah Mukt Bharat Campaign. The district received this recognition on the occasion of International Women’s Day 2026. The Social Welfare & Social Education Department, Government of Tripura, announced the achievement to honour the district’s strong efforts against child marriage.

North Tripura ASHA Award Ceremony Honours Health Workers

District Level Award Ceremony Honours ASHAs in North Tripura

The District Level Award Ceremony for ASHAs and ASHA Facilitators for the financial year 2025–26 took place on 10 March 2026 at Ardhendu Bhattacharjee Smriti Bhavan in North Tripura. The programme also included the distribution of 10 e-cycles to ASHA Facilitators to support their fieldwork and improve healthcare services in remote areas.

The event was organised by the district health department to recognise the dedicated work of Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs) and ASHA Facilitators. These frontline health workers play an important role in strengthening rural healthcare and spreading awareness about public health programmes.

The programme was held in the presence of the Hon’ble Sahakari Sabhadhipati of Uttar Tripura Zilla Parishad (UTP). The District Magistrate & Collector of North Tripura and the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), North Tripura, also attended the ceremony. Several health officials, medical staff, and ASHA workers from different blocks of the district participated in the event.

Recognition of ASHA Workers for Community Health Service

During the ceremony, district authorities honoured selected ASHAs and ASHA Facilitators for their outstanding contributions to community healthcare. These workers actively support maternal health, child health services, immunisation programmes, and disease prevention campaigns across rural areas.

Officials highlighted that ASHA workers play a crucial role in connecting communities with healthcare facilities. They also assist families in accessing government health schemes and medical services.

Distribution of E-Cycles to Strengthen Field Work | North Tripura ASHA Award Ceremony

As part of the programme, the district administration distributed 10 e-cycles to ASHA Facilitators. These e-cycles will help facilitators travel more easily to villages and remote areas.

HPV Vaccination Programme Launched in North Tripura

The HPV vaccination programme started on 10 March 2026 in North Tripura district. The programme targets adolescent girls aged 14 years. These girls must have completed 14 years but should not have reached 15 years. This initiative aims to protect young girls from serious health risks in the future.

The programme began in the presence of the Hon’ble Sahakari Sabhadhipati of Uttar Tripura Zilla Parishad and the District Magistrate & Collector of North Tripura. Along with them, several health officials, medical staff, and district administration representatives attended the event. During the programme, officials highlighted the importance of vaccination for adolescent girls.

HPV Vaccination Programme to Protect Adolescent Girls

The HPV vaccination programme aims to protect girls from Human Papillomavirus (HPV) infection. In fact, HPV is one of the main causes of cervical cancer in women. Therefore, health experts strongly recommend early vaccination for young girls.

Officials explained that vaccination during adolescence provides the best protection. Moreover, the vaccine helps the body build immunity before exposure to the virus. As a result, it reduces the risk of cervical cancer later in life.

Health workers will provide the vaccine through schools and health centres across the district. At the same time, health teams will organise awareness programmes for parents and guardians. In addition, medical staff will guide families about the benefits and safety of the vaccine.
