Moreover, the Fire & Emergency Services Department, Tripura conducted a field-level demonstration on fire prevention and emergency response techniques. The team showcased practical methods to control small fires and highlighted safety protocols to protect lives and property.
As a result, participants gained hands-on knowledge about early detection, quick response, and coordinated action during fire incidents.
Promoting Alternatives to Jhum Cultivation
In addition to fire prevention, officials discussed sustainable alternatives to traditional shifting cultivation (Jhum) practices. They encouraged farmers and local communities to adopt eco-friendly agricultural methods that reduce forest degradation.
Furthermore, resource persons explained government support schemes and training programmes available for sustainable farming practices. Through these efforts, the administration aims to balance livelihood needs with environmental conservation.
Interactive Session at Bangshul Beat Office Complex
Following the field demonstration, officials organised an interactive awareness session at the Bangshul Beat Office Complex under Damcherra Range. Participants actively engaged in discussions and raised questions about fire control measures and alternative livelihood options.
Authorities addressed these queries and assured continued support for community-based forest protection initiatives.
