Gomati Hosts First District-Level Reading and Writing Festival 2026

Udaipur Celebrates Young Readers and Writers

Udaipur, Tripura, July 17: The Gomati District Education Department organized the first-ever District-Level Reading and Writing Festival 2026 on Friday at Rajarshi Kalakshetra in Udaipur. The event encouraged children to build strong reading habits, improve writing skills, and develop creative thinking.

Throughout the day, students from primary and upper primary schools joined a series of engaging reading and writing activities. In addition, the festival gave young participants an opportunity to express their imagination and strengthen their language skills.

72 Students Participate in Two Categories

The competition featured two age-based categories. One category included students from Classes III to V, while the other welcomed students from Classes VI to VIII.

Overall, 72 students from different blocks of Gomati district participated in the festival. Their enthusiasm created a lively atmosphere and reflected a growing interest in literature and creative learning.

Dignitaries Attend the Inaugural Ceremony

The programme began with the symbolic watering of a sapling, highlighting the importance of nurturing young minds through education. After that, Gomati District Magistrate and Collector Rinku Lather officially inaugurated the festival.

Among the distinguished guests were Udaipur Municipal Council Chairperson Shital Chandra Majumder, Deputy Director of the Gomati District Education Department Gouranga Shukla Das, faculty members of Netaji Subhash Mahavidyalaya, and other officials from the Education Department.

Meanwhile, Gouranga Shukla Das served as the convener of the programme, and Subir Majumder, an official of the Gomati District Education Office, chaired the event.

District Magistrate Stresses the Value of Reading

While addressing the gathering, Rinku Lather encouraged students to read books beyond their textbooks. According to him, regular reading broadens knowledge, improves language skills, and strengthens creativity.

Furthermore, he praised the students for their active participation. He also expressed confidence that similar programmes would continue to inspire young learners across the district.

Initiative Strengthens Educational Development

The festival highlighted the importance of literature, creativity, and quality education. Moreover, organizers believe such initiatives will encourage children to read more, write with confidence, and think independently.

Finally, they expressed hope that the festival would become an annual event and inspire even more students to discover and develop their talents in the years ahead.
