Long Traffic Jam During Bridge Construction in Paharpur; MLA Ranjit Das and Cancer Patient Vehicle Get Stuck
Gomati, Tripura: A long traffic jam hit the Jatanbari–Amarpur road in Gomati district after workers temporarily stopped vehicle movement for bridge construction near the Thalchhara TSR 5th Battalion in Paharpur. The road remained closed for nearly 1 hour and 40 minutes.
The closure created long queues of vehicles on both sides of the road. Hundreds of commuters faced delays and struggled to reach their destinations.
A vehicle carrying a cancer patient also got stuck in the traffic. The patient’s family became worried because the patient needed urgent medical care. The prolonged delay increased their anxiety.
Amarpur MLA Ranjit Das also found himself caught in the same traffic jam. Like other commuters, he waited for traffic to move again.
Local residents said the authorities did not provide an alternative route during the bridge construction. They also claimed that traffic officials failed to manage vehicle movement properly. As a result, commuters continue to face daily inconvenience.
Residents urged the administration to speed up the bridge project. They also requested better traffic management and a temporary alternative route during construction. They believe these measures will help emergency vehicles and reduce public inconvenience in the future.
