Agartala: The Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) faces growing administrative and financial concerns.
Hundreds of retired employees are reportedly waiting for pension dues. At the same time, allegations of financial irregularities and administrative mismanagement have drawn attention.
Against this backdrop, the Tripura government has appointed senior IFS officer Chaitanya Murti as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the TTAADC.
Chaitanya Murti Takes Charge as TTAADC CEO | TTAADC Administration Crisis
The General Administration (Personnel & Training) Department issued the transfer and posting notification on September 11, 2026.
According to the notification, Murti will serve as CEO of the TTAADC at Khumulwng with immediate effect.
The State Election Commission also concurred with the appointment because of the upcoming Village Committee elections.
Murti previously handled several senior responsibilities in the Tripura administration.
These included the Science, Technology and Environment Department and several senior Forest Department assignments.
Shantanu Relieved From CEO Post
Murti replaces Shantanu, IAS, who took charge of the TTAADC CEO post only last month.
The government has now posted Shantanu as Principal Secretary of the Science, Technology and Environment Department.
He will also continue as Principal Secretary of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs.
The quick change has attracted attention because the council faces several administrative challenges.
Pension Dues Become a Major Concern | TTAADC Administration Crisis
One of the biggest concerns involves retired TTAADC employees.
According to the report, hundreds of pensioners have waited for their dues for a prolonged period.
The delay has reportedly caused financial difficulties for pensioners and their families.
Meanwhile, the pension issue has also reached the Tripura High Court.
The court has issued directions in cases linked to the council’s financial and administrative responsibilities.
Allegations of Financial Irregularities
The TTAADC has also faced allegations of corruption, financial irregularities, fake jobs and administrative mismanagement.
However, these remain allegations and require verification through official investigations or other competent authorities.
The growing scrutiny has placed additional pressure on the council administration.
New CEO Faces Election-Time Challenges
Murti takes charge at a particularly important moment.
The TTAADC is preparing for Village Committee elections on September 28. Counting is scheduled for October 5.
Therefore, the new CEO will have to manage both administrative responsibilities and election-related coordination.
At the same time, the council must address pending financial obligations and pension-related grievances.
Wider Administrative Reshuffle
The government has also reassigned several responsibilities among senior IFS officers.
RK Samal, IFS, has received additional Forest Department responsibilities. Other officers have also received new assignments linked to the Forest Department and the ELEMENT Project.
The reshuffle comes as the government reorganises several senior administrative positions.
A Critical Test for TTAADC Administration
The appointment of Chaitanya Murti comes at a challenging time for the autonomous council.
For now, pension payments, financial management and administrative efficiency remain key concerns.
The new CEO will face pressure to restore confidence while ensuring smooth administration during the election period.
The coming weeks could therefore prove important for the TTAADC and its employees, pensioners and residents.
