TSR personnel and police investigate robbery of house of a family in Niladhan para
Nildhan Para, North Ekachhari: Another incident has occurred in Nildhan Para area. Locals say thieves are currently targeting multiple homes , stealing cash, valuable jewellery, and other valuables.
Occurred 2:40 a.m. Tuesday at St. John’s Home. According to the family, the thieves stole seven to eight sets of jewelery and cash ranging from ₹4 to ₹5 lakh. The family estimated the total value of the gold, silver, and other items to be over ₹15 lakh.
Mangal Chakma’s family is very happy. The family slept in one room and kept furniture and jewelry in another. The family said two men broke into the house at night, picked the lock and went to the empty room.
Family members immediately reported the incident to Chelagang Police Station. Police arrested Nirmal Debnath and Bipul Debnath and took them to another auto-rickshaw.
The incident also raised questions about earlier arson incidents in the area. Locals said they also stole money from the donation box of a Buddhist temple in Niladhan para.
Some officials said the two men in custody could be connected to the incident. Others fear there could be a larger gang in the area. However, police have yet to determine any link between the suspects and the earlier victims.
Chelagang police are currently investigating the incident. Officials are reviewing the available evidence and questioning those involved before making any conclusions.
It urged the public to step up security in the area and find measures to contain such incidents.
