Khowai, February 13, 2026: The District Magistrate (DM) of Khowai led a detailed field inspection on Thursday to strengthen sanitation and waste management practices across important locations in the district. The administration organized the visit to assess ground realities and accelerate cleanliness efforts.

During the inspection, the DM visited Paharmura Market, Banabithi Park, and key highway corridors within Khowai town. He reviewed how sanitation workers collect garbage and transport it to designated disposal sites. At Paharmura Market, the DM interacted with shopkeepers and vendors. He urged them to dispose of waste responsibly and avoid littering. Similarly, at Banabithi Park, he inspected cleanliness standards and instructed staff to maintain hygiene for visitors.

Along the highway stretches, the team identified several spots where people had dumped garbage illegally. The DM directed officials to remove such waste immediately and monitor the areas regularly to prevent recurrence.

Dharmanagar Illegal Stone Crushers: 50 Units Sealed in Major Enforcement Drive

Dharmanagar Illegal Stone Crushers, A major enforcement drive against illegal stone crusher units was conducted on 11th and 13th February in the subdivision of Dharmanagar. The Sub-Divisional Administration led the operation and targeted 52 unauthorized stone crushers operating without proper approvals and environmental clearances.

Joint Enforcement Team Conducts Inspection

The administration carried out the drive in coordination with the Tripura State Pollution Control Board (TSPCB), the Forest Department, Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL), and the district police.

According to guidelines issued by the official Tripura Government portal (https://tripura.gov.in), industrial units must obtain proper licenses and environmental permissions before starting operations. During the inspection, officials verified documents and found multiple violations of these norms.

As a result, authorities sealed 50 illegal stone crusher units on the spot. Meanwhile, two units were already closed before the team reached the sites.

The Tripura State Pollution Control Board monitors industrial activities to control pollution and protect the environment. As per TSPCB regulations (https://tspcb.tripura.gov.in), stone crusher units must follow strict air and noise pollution standards.
